The Retreat has it all: Perfectly positioned in a quiet street, a Georgian
town house with ten bedrooms, each is light and airy, and individually
furnished. All have en-suite facilities, television and compliments trays.
Some rooms sleep four people, making them ideal for families. We can also
offer disabled guests a ground floor room with easy access for wheelchairs
Young and old, families, singles and couples - there is something to
see and do for everyone.
A stroll through town will reveal the ancient Shaftesbury Abbey ruins
where Alfred the Great made his daughter Abbess at the age of 16,
as well as the world famous Gold Hill, where the views of Thomas
Hardy's Dorset are breathtaking.
We offer a full English or Continental breakfast and also cater for vegetarians
- just let us know and we'll do our very best to accommodate all dietary
