Relax in Tranquil ComfortYalbury Cottage is surrounded by green fields and woodland, just 200 yards from the River Frome. Bockhampton is the beautiful literary village of Mellstock in Thomas Hardy's Under the Greenwood Tree.Yalbury Cottage dates back some 300 years and was once the home to the local shepherd and the keeper of the water meadows. There is a beautiful walk along the river through the water meadows to the Roman town of Dorchester, just two miles away. Our lounge and restaurant, situated in the oldest part of the hotel, are full of character with oak beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces and stone walls. The lounge areas have comfy armchairs and sofas providing quiet corners.
The restaurant offers an extremely high standard of cuisine and a selection
of fine wines from all corners of the world. We have eight spacious bedrooms, tastefully decorated in a cottage style. They all have double or twin beds, en-suite bathroom, direct dial telephone, remote control colour television, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The rooms overlook either the garden or adjacent fields. All bedrooms are non-smoking.
